Showers, Sounds, & Automobiles
by Tom Hudson, Tech Director at thirteen23
At the beginning of the year, Doug and I had the pleasure of attending CES. There was too much on display to even come close to seeing everything, but we did get a chance to say hello to our friends at Kohler and Bose.
Kohler had an amazing presence, showcasing a number of kitchen and bath products the team at thirteen23 helped work on.
Beyond general connectivity, Kohler’s latest round of products supports a number of innovative voice integrations with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Their smart mirror, Verdera, can now be coupled with Kohler’s shower and bath systems, providing the ability to create orchestrated experiences to match your daily routines.
The company also launched its new Moxie shower head, a voice-enabled rechargeable speaker that looks and sounds amazing. Beyond this, their DTV+ shower system was on display, combining water, sound, steam and lighting to support personalized wellness and spa-like experience.
Our work was on display throughout the booth, including Kohler’s digital design language, spanning digital, product, and marcom.
This was Kohler’s third year at the show, and the third time it took home one of CES’s coveted Innovation Awards. Congratulations Kohler!
We were also invited to participate in a hands-on demonstration of Bose’s latest products, including new automotive experiences, connected speakers, and in-ear technology. The ‘Bose Experience’ was located downtown, a fresh change from the chaos of the Vegas strip.
The primary demonstration featured immersive sound systems inside four different cars, including a Corvette Stingray and Porsche Taycan.
Outside, the Bose team took customers for a ride around town, showcasing a number of unique applications of contextual and spatial audio for drivers and passengers.
The demonstration room, as well as each car, had digital displays featuring the team’s interface designs and imagery in support of Bose’s different audio experiences.
Finally, the team got a preview of Bose’s headphones and connected speaker systems, all of which are touch- and voice-enabled. I may be biased, but if you ask me, they just continue to get better and better!
Thanks and congrats again to our clients, Kohler and Bose, for another successful year!
